Dear Supporters of the Slovenian American Times,

Isn’t it hard to believe we are into the month of May?  Despite the long, brutal winter, this year is passing quickly. With Mothers Day, Memorial Day, the end of the school-year and lots of spring yardwork, May will keep us all very busy. 

The staff and volunteers of SAT have been busy as well.  We announced last month Chrissie Arvay has joined the SAT as our Business/Office Manager.  She is here, with regular office hours, usually Tuesday through Thursday, from 1PM to 5PM.  Chrissie has spent recent weeks organizing the SAT office and getting acquainted with many in the community.  She looks forward to meeting subscribers, advertisers and supporters, to answer questions, address concerns and help make the SAT the best it can be.  Feel free to reach out to Chrissie by phone at (440) 833-0020 or by email:  carvay@slovenianamericantimes.com.   Please note that submission of articles, ads and memorials should continue to go to editor@slovenianamericantimes.com.

So many of you support our efforts both in your kind words and in financial contributions.  These are both deeply appreciated and help perpetuate the SAT.  We continue to receive emails and voicemails from the community offering feedback, positive and negative.  We truly appreciate the candor and the time you take to get this to us.  We continue to receive requests to feature the activities of communities outside of Cleveland.  We would be so happy to do so if more was sent to us.   As we’ve said in the past, the SAT is for Slovenians everywhere. We would love to hear from you.  Please engage with us. We welcome you to share your story.  Tell us about your organizations, the participants and your events.  Send us articles and photographs to be featured in the SAT.

Although we have made progress in recent months, with new help from so many new contributors and volunteers, we continue to struggle Though we are pleased with how far we have come, we continue to rely heavily on help from our community of supporters, in and out of the Cleveland area, to continue our mission.   Here is how you can help: 

• Give us ideas for content.  Tell us what topics you enjoy reading about and what you think could make the SAT more interesting/appealing to our readers.  We strive to offer material that is relevant to multiple generations of supporters, but we recognize not all material is interesting to all.  Tell us what YOU believe would be relevant and interesting. 
• Provide us with content such as articles, photographs with short stories, announcements (Graduations, Engagements, Weddings etc. that we can post in the SAT.  This is a great way to engage with the community.
• Please keep your subscription current.  Your subscription End Date is noted on the mailing label at the bottom of Page 1 of your SAT.  It is conveniently located back-to-back with the mail-in form.
• Keep your contact information current including your phone number and email address.  The best way to do this is by completing the mail-in the form located at the bottom of Page 2.  Doing this will ensure your inclusion in email blasts, which we run from time to time to share news and special events with the community.
• Support our advertisers when possible.  They contribute significantly to making the SAT possible.  If you own a business, please consider how an ad in the SAT could help promote your business.  We can help you develop an ad. Just ask

Ongoing production of the Slovenian American Times

Our goal is for May and ongoing editions of the SAT to land in mailboxes shortly after the first of each month.  We will make every effort to meet the required deadlines for this to occur but, sometimes that is not possible.  We will aways remain at the mercy of the U.S. Postal Service.   

We continue to add to the functionality of our website: slovenianamericantimes.com.  We now offer up-to-date visibility of our calendar and obituaries.  We continue to work on access to the Roster of Slovenian Organizations.  We hope to have this available in the near future.   We continue to work on an embedded tool to pay your subscription and to access your electronic versions of the SAT

We thank you for your continued patience and support as we add enhancements and resolve remaining kinks.  Please know that our team remains committed to delivering the SAT to our beloved Slovenian Community on a timely and consistent basis, always with interesting and relevant information. 

As we dive into a busy May with Mothers Day and Memorial Day, all of us staff and volunteers of the Slovenian American Times wish a Happy Mothers Day to all moms. We also wish a safe, restful and pleasant Memorial Day weekend to our community of supporters, subscribers and advertisers, particularly those who have served in the U.S. Military.
