State of the SAT – June 2026

Dear Supporters of the Slovenian American Times,

It’s finally June.  The time of year that inspires us enough to endure the torment brought about by ice, bitter cold and snow.  With Father’s Day, the start of Summer vacation, and lots of summer yard work, we will all stay very busy.  June has become the unofficial month of being especially proud to be Slovenian.  Please make sure to see the calendar of events focused on this, most notably, the “Spominska Masa” honoring the Domobranci and Proud to be Slovenian Day, both to be held at the Slovenska Pristava in Harpersfield, OH on June 21 and June 28 respectively.

Here is a reminder that Chrissie, our Business/Office Manager is here, with regular office hours, usually Tuesday through Thursday, from 1PM to 5PM.  She is quickly getting acquainted with many in the community and looks forward to meeting subscribers, advertisers and supporters.  Feel free to reach out to Chrissie by phone at (440) 833-0020 or by email:  carvay@slovenianamericantimes.com.   If you would prefer an in-person visit, it’s always wise to make an appointment ahead of time as her hours, though generally consistent may occasionally vary.

So many of you kindly support our efforts both through your heart-warming words and with generous financial contributions.  These are deeply appreciated and will indeed help perpetuate the SAT.  We continue to receive emails and voicemails from the community offering feedback, positive and negative.  We truly appreciate the candor and the time you take to get this to us.

Have a thought?  Send it to us at editor@slovenianamericantimes.com.

Beyond your verbal and financial encouragement, the SAT relies heavily on content and engagement from our community of supporters, in and out of the Cleveland area.  Here is how you can help:

Give us ideas for presentation and format.  Tell us what topics you enjoy reading about and what you think could make the SAT more interesting/appealing to our readers.  We strive to offer material that is relevant to multiple generations of supporters, but we recognize not all material is interesting to all.  Tell us what YOU believe would be relevant and interesting.

Provide us with content such as articles, photographs with short stories, announcements (Graduations, Engagements, Weddings etc. that we can post in the SAT.  This is a great way to engage with the community and make some new friends.

Remember the SAT is for Slovenians everywhere. Wherever you are, we would love to hear from you.  Please engage with us. We welcome you to share your story.  Tell us about your organizations, the participants and your events.  Send us articles and photographs to be featured in the SAT.

Please keep your subscription current.  Your subscription End Date is noted on the mailing label at the bottom of Page 1 of your SAT.  It is conveniently located back-to-back with the mail-in form.

Keep your contact information current including your phone number and email address.  The best way to do this is by completing the mail-in the form located at the bottom of Page 2.  Doing this will ensure your inclusion in email blasts, which we run from time to time to share news and special events with the community.

Please Note:

* To submit your articles, ads and photographs it is best to do so through our website: slovenianamericantimes.com.  Once on our site, please click on “Contact Us” then on “Article Submission.”  From here, kindly complete the embedded Form, including insertion of any appropriate attachments.

*Your events may be submitted to us for inclusion in the SAT Calendar,  also via the SAT Website.

If you experience significant difficulty submitting via the website, you may as an alternative submit by email to: editor@slovenianamericantimes.com.

As we come into June with the start of Summer, Fathers Day and so many events around Proud to be Slovenian Month, all of us staff and volunteers of the Slovenian American Times wish a Happy Father’s Day to all you dads, Grand-dads, and HEAVILY-involved Uncles. We also wish a pleasant and safe June to our community of supporters, subscribers and advertisers, particularly those who have served in the U.S. Military.
