Dear Supporters of the Slovenian American Times,

We are very pleased to announce that Christine Arvay joins the Slovenian American Times as our new Business/Office Manager.  On a part-time basis, Chrissie will be here to manage the many critical office functions that we have fallen a bit behind on.  Her focus will be to engage with our subscribers, advertisers and supporters by phone and email, to answer questions, address concerns and help make the SAT the best it can be.  Chrissie comes to us with ties to the Slovenian Community, experience in the not-for-profit world and a passion for getting things done properly.  Please join us in welcoming her aboard and wishing her the best.

So many of you continue to show your support of our efforts both in your kind words and in financial contributions.  These are both deeply appreciated and will help perpetuate the SAT.  We have fallen a bit behind in consistently acknowledging the generosity of our subscribers.  With new help on board we will get ourselves current and back on track with our Hvala Lepa posting in the month May edition.

We continue to receive emails and voicemails from the community offering feedback, positive and negative, on our progress.  We truly appreciate your candor and the time you take to get this to us.  The comments we receive most frequently concern either, no receipt of the paper or more inclusion of Slovenian Communities outside of greater Cleveland.

To the issue of no receipt of the paper please understand that we are at the mercy of the U.S. Postal Service.  Each month, we receive as many as 10 messages from readers who did not get their paper.  We have no explanation as to why. The only remedy we can offer is to provide you with a replacement.  If you are a current subscriber and do not have your SAT by the 10th or so of any month, please call us at (440) 833-0020 and let us know.  We will make arrangements for you to get a replacement.    We are considering alternatives to the postage situation and what alternatives might be available and at what cost.  We will share more when that becomes available. 

To the issue of inclusion from communities outside of greater Cleveland, please know the SAT is for Slovenians everywhere. We would love to hear from you.  Please engage with us. We welcome you to share your story.  Tell us about your organizations, the participants and your events.  Send us articles and photographs to be featured in the SAT.

In the last few months we have made some wonderful progress with new help from so many new contributors and volunteers and Barbara Somrack, our Graphic Artist. Though we are pleased with how far we have come, we continue to rely heavily on help from the Slovenian Community, in and out of Greater Cleveland, to continue the mission we set out on in 2008.  

Here is how you can help: 

• Please provide updated contact information including your phone number and email address.  The best way to do this is by completing the mail-in the form located at the bottom of Page 2.  Doing this will ensure your inclusion in email blasts, which we run from time to time to share news and special events with the community.
• Please, whenever possible, support our advertisers who contribute significantly to making the SAT possible.  If you own a business, please consider advertising here, in the SAT.  Our SLO community is known to be a fiercely, loyal consumer group when they’ve been treated properly.  Please consider how this could benefit your business.  
• Please keep your subscription current.  Your subscription End Date is noted on the mailing label at the bottom of Page 1 of your SAT.  It is conveniently located back-to-back with the mail-in form.
• We could really use some help from young, tech-savvy, folks that have modern-day insights into social media.  Updating our Facebook Page would surely help draw interest and engagement of younger generations who will soon lead this community.  Please come join us!

Ongoing production of the Slovenian American Times

Our goal is for April and ongoing editions of the SAT to land in mailboxes right around the first of each month.  We will make every effort to meet the required deadlines for this to occur but, please note we will always remain at the mercy of the U.S. Postal Service.   

We have expanded the functionality of our website: slovenianamericantimes.com,  We now offer current access to our calendar and to obituaries.  We will be adding access to the Roster of Slovenian Organizations in the near future.  Please look to our website for news, and announcements.  Corporate Advertisers, thank you for your patience as we re-tool.  We will be in touch with you soon to re-introduce ourselves.

We thank you for your continued patience and support as we work out remaining kinks.  Please know that our team remains committed to delivering the SAT to our beloved Slovenian Community on a timely and consistent basis, always with interesting and relevant information. 

As we get into Holy Week and the start of Spring, all of us involved with the Slovenian American Times wish a Blessed and Happy Easter season to our Community of supporters, subscribers and advertisers.
