Known for its expressive melodies and dazzling technical skill\, this musical tradition was carried to North America during waves of immigration in the late 19th and early 20th centuries\, where it flourished within close-knit communities. \nAt the heart of the performance is the evocative pairing of violin and cimbalom\, the shimmering hammered dulcimer that anchors many Eastern European Roma ensembles. The evening will feature romantic melodies alongside electrifying dance forms such as the csárdás and friss\, moving from soulful laments to thrilling\, high-energy finales. \nFollowing the concert\, guests can enjoy a lively reception with dancing\, traditional Hungarian food prepared by the Hungarian Scouts\, and a full bar. DESCRIPTION:The Slovenian Mixed Chorus Korotan presents its annual spring concert at St. Mary’s Parish Hall on Sunday\, April 19\, 2026. Doors to the hall will open at 3:00 PM. The performance will begin at 3:30 PM in the hall.  Admission is $15.00 for adults\, but children in high school and younger are free of charge. The event will be held the weekend of April 11th and 12th in the 85-seat Fine Arts Cinema on the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee campus. \nThe 2026 festival includes two feature-length films and three short films.
