On Thursday, November 13, St. Stanislav’s Institution in Ljubljana celebrated the feast of its patron saint, St. Stanislaus Kostka, as well as the 120th anniversary of the institution. The celebration started with a holy mass at the parish church of St. Vitus in Šentvid, which was offered by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Ljubljana Stanislav Zore and other priests.

In his introductory greeting, the director of the institution, Anton Česen, reminded the guests how St. Stanislaus taught us that God had placed his treasure in every person and gave everyone strength even in our human fragility.

In his sermon, Archbishop Stanislav Zore presented the figure of the Old Testament patriarch Noah, who followed God’s call despite the opposition and ridicule of his surroundings and the society of his time. The archbishop invited the congregation to listen to God’s call and follow it.

The solemn service was enriched by the performance of the classicist musical pearl Missa Brevis in F major by Joseph Haydn by the Mixed Youth Choir of the Diocesan Classical Gymnasium led by the conductor Damijan Močnik with soloists Katarina Pirc and Neža Sušnik and the String Orchestra of the Matija Tomc Music School at the St. Stanislav’s Institution with mentors Žiga Faganel and Katarina Krapež. The Girls’ Choir of the Diocesan Classical Gymnasium, led by Helena Fojkar Zupančič, also sang at the mass. The service was traditionally concluded with the song Marija skoz’ življenje.

The solemn academy was dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the St. Stanislav’s Institution. On September 17, 1905, the Prince-Bishop of Ljubljana, Anton Bonaventura Jeglič, blessed the chapel at the St. Stanislav’s Institution and consecrated the main altar, and addressed the students and other guests. He summarized the purpose of the establishment of the institution and its mission: care for good physical health, serious work in all school subjects, and growth in personal faith and Christian life. A few days later, with the solemn opening of the institution, its long, beautiful, and sometimes difficult journey began.

The evening was designed by history teachers at the Diocesan Classical Gymnasium and the Alojzij Šuštar Elementary School: it included musical pieces with an emphasis on Slovenian folk songs, memories of the establishment of the institution, and poetry readings. The programme was concluded with the presentation of awards for the best pupils and students.

V Zavodu sv. Stanislava so v četrtek, 13. novembra, praznovali god zavetnika sv. Stanislava Kostke in ob tej priložnosti obeležili 120-letnico zavoda. Najprej so v župnijski cerkvi sv. Vida v Šentvidu obhajali sveto mašo, ki jo je ob somaševanju zavodskih in drugih duhovnikov daroval ljubljanski nadškof metropolit Stanislav Zore.

Direktor zavoda mag.

Stanislava Škofijske klasične gimnazije pod vodstvom Damijana Močnika s solistkama Katarino Pirc in Nežo Sušnik ter Godalni orkester Glasbene šole Matije Tomca v Zavodu sv. Stanislava z mentorjema Žigom Faganelom in Katarino Krapež.

Stanislava.
